On Boxing Day the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race set sail from Sydney, straight into a fierce storm in the Bass Sea. Two sailors were sadly killed, one was rescued from being thrown overboard and many of the yachts abandoned the race after losing wither their masts or their keels.
Our ship took shelter on the (inland) west coast of the Frecinet Peninsula. We sailed our zodiacs around the quieter waters and saw a pair of magnificent Sea Eagles. Then we trekked across the peninsula to the stunning Wineglass Bay.
