Gásadalur, Vágar, Faroe Islands
The waterfall in Gásadalur appears on most of the marketing material for the Faroe Islands and on a 2003 stamp. The tiny village itself sits on top of a high plateau with magnificent views of Mykines. Despite the building of a tunnel which connects the village to the rest of the island, instead of the previous several hour hike over the tallest mountains in the Faroe Islands, the population of the village is still less than 20 and falling. On the cliff face opposite the waterfall is a large colony of the cutest puffins.
