Probably the best day of the whole cruise was spent in Victor Harbour and surroundings.  It is a small but lively holiday resort an easy drive from Adelaide, with some of the best wines and seafood in Australia, interesting well-preserved buildings, and amazing wildlife on the Mouth of the Murray River.  We were made to feel very welcome from the Town Crier onwards.
Victor Harbour has one of only two working horse trams in the world (the other one is in Douglas, Isle of Man).
The Cockle Train runs from Victor Harbour to Goolwa which is on the Murray River near the Murray Mouth.
Goolwa is at the end of the Coorong, which  is a huge lagoon behind the mouth of the Murray River.  It is full of pelicans, cormorants, seals and black swans.
