We stayed in a lodge in the rainforest near the small town of Mossman. Mossman was established in the 1890s as a centre for the growth of sugar cane. The locals still seem to have a sweet tooth!
The Mossman River has cut a gorge through the rainforest. The area is part of the Daintree National Park and has a popular rainforest loop track walk and swimming areas in the river rock pools.
