As we were in the world's most powerful commercial icebreaker (the US and the Russians have more powerful military nuclear icebreakers), the captain was determined to break some ice and, if possible, set a record. So we circumnavigated Melville Island and thereby achieved the most northerly Northwest Passage ever attempted (helped by global warming of course).  Here are a few images and three short videos to help you experience the ice (best to turn up the volume for the videos).
