I was surprised to hear the local guide describe Sydney Opera House as a Brutalist masterpiece, but with its stark geometric design and bare building materials, including all that concrete, it has a lot of the elements of Brutalism! The Opera House is almost exactly contemporary with the Barbican Estate, designed in the late 1950s and finished in the 1970s.
