Before we left the ice, the naturalists on board were keen that we should all experience walking on an ice floe in the middle of nowhere.  It's certainly a strange experience - clambering "ashore" and trying not to fall, realising that there could be polar bears anywhere...

The amount of gear you have to wear to survive for an hour or so is incredible!

No need to bring your own ice!
