The idea of sampling colours from an image comes from an environmental photographer, Niall Benvie, who used it to explore the idea that different latitudes have different colour palettes. It occurred to me that different seasons, at the same latitude, also have different colour palettes. These four images were all taken in an ancient beech wood at the top of the Chilterns (51.687˚N) in different seasons. The seasonal colour palettes are influenced by the weather (light, heat, wind, and water in all its forms), and therefore will change with climate change.
